
First Landmark: Bistrita MonasteryThe Bistriţa Monastery is a Romanian Orthodox monastery located 8 km west of Piatra Neamţ. It was dedicated in 1402 by Romanian Voivode Alexandru cel Bun whose remains are buried here.

The second Landmark:Pangarati Monastery which was founded in the time of Stephan the Great and rebuilt by the voivode
Alexandru Lapusneanu in 1560. It`s a church with two levels, unique for Orthodox style.

The third Landmark: Varatec Monastery

which has three churches and a chapel. The most important is dedicated to The Death of the Virgin (August 15 th) and was built by a nun called Olimpia.

Traditionally many of nuns who entered Varatec came from noble families, bringing with them fine pieces of furniture and other valuable objects. Some of these are kept in the museum of the monastery. The library has 6000 volumes, 1600 of which are manuscripts and old books.
